On Monday 2 December 2019, representatives of Summa Airline Services, Heijmans and Eindhoven Airport came together with Summa students to drive the first pile for the new building for Summa Airline Services at Eindhoven Airport (in car park P1, opposite McDonald’s). The building is scheduled to be ready for use in August 2020 (at the start of the 2020-2021 academic year). In the speech Roel Hellemons, the Director of Eindhoven Airport, gave to mark this special occasion, he emphasised the importance of 'gaining practical experience 'on the spot'. "As a recent Brainport report shows, it is vital to continue to invest in education and jobs, particularly for MBO-level students." Roel Hellemons also expressed his satisfaction with his company’s partnership with Summa, as part of which many students are often offered jobs at Eindhoven Airport once they have finished the course. Arno Goedhart, Director of Summa Airline Services, stressed the importance of collaboration between education and business. "Where better to train Airline Services students than here at the airport where they can see what their work will be like in practice?" The new building is being constructed by Heijmans, in keeping with the design for P1. Once it has been completed, Summa will leave the business center in the terminal. Almost 180 students are enrolled for the three-year (MBO) Airline Services course.
